The Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon shows typical Cabernet Sauvignon flavour and aroma profiles of dark berries and tobacco with a well-structured and lengthy palate.
Stellenbosch and the Simonsberg Mountain range are synonymous with the production of great Cabernet Sauvignon. Just over one third of Rustenberg's vineyard plantings are dedicated to this variety and it is used through all of our blended red wines, and the famous site specific Peter Barlow. The Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon is made in a more fruit forward and medium bodied style and is accessible in its youth but will benefit from further bottle age. We recommend decanting this wine before serving.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux varietals perform very well under the climate conditions of the region and Rustenberg is known to be one of South Africa’s top producers of Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux blends and varietals.
"Ripe and red-fruited, the Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon opens to a nose of lush, dark cherries and spiced plums with hints of dusty florals and notes of nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers succulent acidity with balanced tannins before offering fresh juicy crème de cassis and black cherry skin flavors. The Cabernet ends with a lingering and spicy edge and will continue to drink well for the next nine to 10 years. 60,000 bottles were produced. Drink to 2032."
